With the Küchenkompane knives and also with all other products that you can buy in our store, we simplify your everyday cooking and give you the opportunity to provide your kitchen with an individual signature. Our knives are very robust by nature. Therefore, they do not require special care. A few small rules should be followed, however, so that the knives stay nice and sharp for a long time. Here are our top 5 care tips:
1. Knives should always be stored clean and dry. They should not lie loose in a drawer, otherwise they could bang together and lose their sharpness. The best way to store them is in knife protection cases or a liner. And of course, if you want to present your knives in style, our magnetic knife block is just the thing.
2. Knives should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, there is no reason to do so! Knives are rarely so dirty that you could not rinse them with hot water (and if necessary a little soap) and then wipe them dry directly after use and store them clean.
3. To protect the tip of the knife, you can slice a cork and put the piece of cork on the tip of the knife. This protects both the knife tip and the cook.
4. The right cutting board or mat plays an especially important role in maintaining the sharpness of the knives. The better the board, the longer the knives will stay sharp. Therefore, please always cut on soft boards such as wood or plastic. Be sure to avoid materials such as glass, marble, stone and metal.
Even the hardest steel must be sharpened one day. You can use our knife sharpeners for this purpose. Just pick the one you like best and sharpen your knives in seconds.
By the way: You should never push the cut material aside with the knife edge. This "pushing" only ensures that the cutting edge simply becomes blunt very quickly. Always and only use the back of the knife to move the cut material cut.
If you follow these five rules, you will enjoy sharp knives and clean cuts for a very long time.
